The staff at Management HQ (MHQ) is getting into the spirit of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games by holding their own MHQ Office Olympics. During the course of the Olympics, staff competed in a number of games of “skill” for the glory of winning gold, silver or bronze medals in each event.
“The games provided staff an opportunity to step away from their desks for friendly competition and rounds of laughter,” said Ashley Driste, MHQ events manager. “I enjoyed finding games to play and being able to have a creative outlet to prepare for them.”
MHQ Office Bingo
Staff members each received a bingo card that needed to be filled out over the course of two weeks. The bingo spaces were filled with daily activities (sending email, answering a call), value actions (compassion: send a thank you note), and self-care actions (take lunch away from your desk) to be marked off when completed. The top three to complete the most bingos were awarded medals.
Paper Airplane Golf
Staff members in the office as well as one via video conference played two holes of paper airplane golf with the goal of flying a paper airplane into a “hole” with the fewest number of attempts. The lowest three scores medaled in the event.
Rubber Band Archery
Competitors shot rubber bands at a target drawn on the office white board for points. Everyone had five rubber bands and those with the most points won the gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
Dice Roll Off
The final event of this year’s games was as fiercely competitive as you might imagine. Jim Murphy won the gold medal, bringing his total medal count to three overall and making him the big winner for the 2018 MHQ Office Olympics.
