Next month from March 17-20, MHQ will manage the 97th Annual National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST) International Conference in Denver, Colorado. This year’s theme, Science Education for the Rest of Us, is “intended to foreground the purpose of science education, and to draw our collective attention to the many socio-scientific issues that are increasingly important in modern society but have yet to find a place in the standard K-12 curriculum.” Over 1,000 science researchers and educators from around the world will gather to engage in this exciting work and build community with one another.
This is the second year that the MHQ team has managed this impactful event. With 3 days full of speakers, poster presentations, panels, and networking events, the MHQ management team has been working closely with NARST leaders to ensure the conference runs smoothly and is as valuable and engaging as possible for participants. The conference will also include an all-virtual day ahead of the in-person event to allow for wider participation for those who cannot travel.
Mackenzie Kelley, who serves as NARST’s Associate Executive Director, says “I am looking forward to seeing all of NARST’s members and leaders in– person and meeting new folks from around the world. I think the President’s Welcome Reception will be a really fun way to kick off Conference week!”
Amy Sellheim, MHQ’s new Events Manager, says, “I’m very excited to be managing my first NARST Conference in Denver! I look forward to meeting and connecting with NARST leadership and members during a week filled with valuable education and networking opportunities. This is an industry event folks won’t want to miss!”
We are grateful for our partnership with NARST, and we look forward to supporting their future events.
