My Dog Is My Home is a national nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness and their companion animals. MHQ is proud to have My Dog Is My Home as our community partner for the third year in a row.
This organization is having a powerful impact and provides invaluable support to keep people and their pets together.
In addition to supporting the organization by donating a percentage of MHQ’s revenue in honor of our clients, we share information about the organization each month and provide in-kind consulting services.
Yurimar & Simba’s story covered by People.com
You might recall Yurimar and Simba from My Dog Is My Home’s video about them. When Yurimar and her family set out to walk most of the thousands of miles from Venezuela to the U.S., they would not leave their beloved dog, Simba, behind. So they journeyed with him in a backpack, seeking political asylum and a better life.
When Simba was separated from his family at the U.S. border, Bridge Pups Rescue cared for him and reunited him with Yurimar as soon as possible.
But recently, Yurimar was detained by ICE, not even allowed to make arrangements for Simba. Fortunately, Bridge Pups Rescue was able to pull Simba from the animal shelter he’d been taken to and is caring for him until he can be reunited with Yurimar.
Thank you to People.com for covering Simba & Yurimar’s story.
