Earlier this month, the Management HQ (MHQ) team headed up north for a weekend away at the ARC Retreat Center in Stanchfield, Minnesota. The purpose of the retreat was to allow the MHQ team an opportunity to step outside their routines and have meaningful conversations about the future of the organization and how we can best serve our clients to help them thrive.
While spending time at the retreat, the MHQ team engaged in strategic planning sessions around clients, staffing, growth, and professional development. There were some team building opportunities as well as a recreational bonfire and a little bit of competition.
“Key takeaways from the retreat included a 10-year and 3-year vision for MHQ and our team,” said Dara Rudick, CEO of MHQ. “As well as defining some goals and steps to get there.”
“I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to bond with the team as a whole and as individuals through recreational events including bonfires, early morning walks with the team, and shared meals,” said Jim Murphy, executive director for a MHQ client association.
Other team members found value in some of the more unexpected takeaways. For instance, accountant Kent Fordyce learned that everyone’s thumbs should point left when holding hands in a group: one hand receives and the other gives. Whereas MHQ events coordinator, Ashley Driste, found joy in the amazing glowstick, glasses during fun evening bonfires. There was truly something for everyone at the retreat.
The ARC, which stands for “Action, Reflection, and Celebration,” is an inter-spiritual nonprofit retreat center staffed by a resident community serving groups and individuals seeking time apart and renewal through its core values of community, spirituality, hospitality, and sustainability.
