The 2025 World Risk and Insurance Economics Congress (the “World Congress”) took place August 3–7 at the Hyatt Regency Calgary in Calgary, Canada, uniting nearly 300 academics, industry leaders, and government professionals from 21 countries.
Hosted once every five years, this year’s World Congress was organized by the American Risk and Insurance Association (ARIA) in partnership with the Asia-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association (APRIA), the European Group of Risk and Insurance Economists (EGRIE), and the Geneva Association.
The event featured dynamic educational sessions, extensive networking opportunities, and engaging off-site activities—all designed to advance education and research in risk and insurance.
“As the events manager, it was a privilege to work alongside ARIA in partnership with APRIA, EGRIE, and the Geneva Association, to plan and execute this year’s conference,” said Management HQ Events Manager, Amy Sellheim. “What stood out most was the sense of community. Attendees weren’t just attending sessions, they were engaging, exchanging ideas, and building connections that will last well beyond the conference.”
“Watching those moments unfold is exactly why I love what I do. Helping create a space where professionals feel inspired, supported, and motivated to advance their industry is truly the most meaningful part of my work, and I am grateful to have been part of the 2025 World Congress’ success.”
ARIA Immediate Past President David Eckles also praised the collaboration, adding, “The World Congress was very successful, and I am certain Management HQ’s staff—Mackenzie, Amy, and Lynn—were integral to that success.”
