The National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST) convened its Board of Directors for a dynamic three-day Fall Board Meeting this October in Denver, Colorado. Board members from across the United States, Canada, Nigeria, and Taiwan came together for an engaging and productive series of discussions.
The meeting covered a wide range of crucial topics, reflecting NARST’s commitment to advancing research in science teaching. Attendees participated in brainstorming sessions, delving into innovative ideas and strategies that could shape the future trajectory of the association.
One focus of the meeting was the anticipation surrounding NARST’s 2024 Conference, slated to take place in Denver next March. Board members had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the conference venue and collaborate with the hotel events planning team to ensure a seamless and enriching experience for attendees.
A delightful aspect of the gathering was the coinciding occurrence of an annual solar eclipse. The celestial event was particularly visible in Colorado, providing a unique and memorable experience for the board members. Taking advantage of the spectacle, one board member secured glasses from a local contact, and the entire group gathered on the roof deck to witness the phenomenon together.
The October 2023 Board Meeting not only fostered collaborative discussions on the future of science research and teaching, but also allowed for personal and collective moments of connection. As NARST looks ahead to its 2024 Conference, the enthusiasm and camaraderie generated during this meeting bode well for the association’s continued commitment to advancing science education globally.
