My Dog Is My Home is a national nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness and their companion animals. MHQ has selected My Dog is My Home as our 2024 Community Partner. In addition to supporting the organization by donating a percentage of MHQ’s revenue in honor of our clients, we will share information about the organization each month, and provide in-kind consulting services.
On Saturday, December 14th, the J. McLaughlin boutique in Millbrook, NY hosted “Holiday Shopping & Good Cheer,” benefitting My Dog Is My Home. The store is donating 15% of the day’s sales to My Dog Is My Home’s work to keep people and their pets together in the face of homelessness. Founder Christine Kim greeted attendees, who came from the Millbrook area and around the Hudson Valley region, speaking to them at length about the organization’s work.
My Dog Is My Home’s Co-Sheltering Collaborative held it’s Q4 meeting recently, bringing together organizations from across the United States and featuring a “fireside chat” between MDIMH Founder Christine Kim and RedRover Director of Field Services Beth Gammie about pet-inclusive emergency housing in response to natural disasters (such as the recent hurricanes Helene and Milton).
In the fall of 2024, The Shepherd’s House, located in Mount Airy, NC, received a fellowship from My Dog Is My Home. This fellowship provides a year of support for the Shepherd’s House as they open a new men’s emergency shelter that will be pet inclusive. As part of the fellowship program, Shoshana Mostoller from My Dog Is My Home visited the new shelter site. She spent the day with shelter staff and other community members, offering guidance of policies and procedures for the new facility.
We’re also very excited that an anonymous donor is matching all Year-End gifts up to $10,000.
