Management HQ’s (MHQ) first client, the East Africa Medical Assistance Foundation (EAMAF), is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing radiology services at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center (KCMC) in Moshi, Tanzania.
Founded in 1987 by retired University of Minnesota radiologist Dr. Helmut Diefenthal, the EAMAF helps support the Kilimanjaro School of Radiology, the first radiology residency in the country. Recently, the organization launched its annual fundraising campaign.
Money raised by the non-profit supports the radiology training program, provides funds for equipment for the imaging department and managing a volunteer program for radiologists who wish to contribute by teaching at the school. To date, EAMAF has trained more than 100 assistant medical officers.
Previous contributions have enabled EAMAF to purchase and install a modern radiology information system (RIS) and a picture archival and communications system. A long-awaited biomedical equipment repair department is under construction now, with a complete remodel of the KCMC radiology planned to begin soon.
Since 2013, MHQ has worked as EAMAF’s association management company, providing board and committee support, meeting management, donor relations, communication support, administrative support and executive leadership since 2013.
