Happy Passover – in advance!
I wanted to share with you the story of my joyful 2-week early Passover celebration. And give folks time to prepare some favorite vegan Passover recipes compiled by @LiveKindly in time for a Passover Seder, or festive Passover holiday meal, on Saturday, March 27. This year, I celebrated Passover two weeks early; we wanted to celebrate with our friends who visited from New York City. We visited with them safely, and socially distanced, including during our Zoom Passover seder.
Our family and loved ones are a beautiful blend of religious and non-religious observances, and we had a lovely virtual seder.
My mom and I created Passover Baskets – a new pandemic-era development in our family; not to be confused with Easter baskets – for our Seder participants. My spouse delivered them.
With a tradition of leading our Seder through a lens of social justice, my mom curated a beautiful collection of readings and reflections around equity and justice, included as we took turns reading from the pages of the Haggadah, the Jewish text that sets forth the order of the Passover Seder.
Four families connected on Zoom, and we celebrated our second annual pandemic Passover enjoying our Seder meal, one another, and the spirit of Passover, reminding us of the work ahead to ensure freedom and justice for all.
One of our dear friends ended the Seder with a revised version of the traditional “Next Year in Jerusalem!” proclamation, shouting “Next Year in Person!”
