My Dog Is My Home is a national nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness and their companion animals. MHQ has selected My Dog is My Home as our 2024 Community Partner. In addition to supporting the organization by donating a percentage of MHQ’s revenue in honor of our clients, we will share information about the organization each month, and provide in-kind consulting services.
My Dog Is My Home just wrapped up another impactful Open House event in San Diego, CA, where they partnered with Father Joe’s Villages to showcase a large homeless services organization that is operating pet-inclusive sheltering. Homeless services providers from across Southern California and the country (some as far away as Mt. Airy, NC and Boston, MA) joined the in-person event to get inspired for how they can transform their own systems and spaces to include people and pets together. See the press coverage on CBS8 here.
The last Open House event of the year, being held in NYC, is just around the corner. On November 15, My Dog Is My Home will be showcasing Urban Resource Institute’s new pet-inclusive family homeless shelter. If you are in the New York City area and would like to join them, please register here by November 8.
My Dog Is My Home is also looking for volunteers to advise on board governance structures. If you are interested in supporting the organization in this area, please contact Christine Kim at christine@mydogismyhome.org.
