On April 19-22, the MHQ team, led by NARST Executive Director Mackenzie Kelley, delivered an incredible 1,044-person Annual International Conference for the National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST).
The conference’s theme was “Joyful Transgressions and Radical Imagination in Science Education,” and was preceded by an all-day virtual event on April 9.
“I wanted the theme to be joyful to counter the despair many of us are feeling with current geopolitical events,” said NARST President Dr. Jennifer D. Adams.

Taking place in Seattle, Washington, at the Sheraton Grand Seattle, all conference event logistics were led by MHQ Events Manager, Amy Sellheim, alongside MHQ team members, Lynn Noble and Mike Swan.
The conference kicked-off with local arts-based keynote and youth tap-dancers and the second keynote featured community-centered educators, researchers and activists; both setting a joyful and affirming tone that carried throughout the conference.
