My Dog Is My Home is a national nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness and their companion animals. MHQ is proud to have My Dog Is My Home as our community partner for the third year in a row.
This organization is having a powerful impact and provides invaluable support to keep people and their pets together.
In addition to supporting the organization by donating a percentage of MHQ’s revenue in honor of our clients, we share information about the organization each month and provide in-kind consulting services.
A Major NYS Legislative Win Thanks to Senator Monica R. Martinez and Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal
In June, the New York State Legislature passed a bill, sponsored by Senator Monica R. Martinez and Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal, directing the state to create an official toolkit of best practices to support co-sheltering of people and their pets together. This is a historic step forward for our mission, and one we’ve been working toward for years.
Best practices, once codified and published at the state level, carry real weight with emergency housing operators and local governments. We thank our champions in the legislature, Assemblymember Rosenthal and Senator Martinez, for advancing a more humane, equitable emergency housing system for people and pets across New York.
